Location: Little Cottonwood Canyon is located in Salt Lake County, Utah and is part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forrest. The base of the canyon is located in the city of Sandy. From Wasatch BLVD take Little Cottonwood Road east bound to enter the canyon. The base of the canyon starts around 9800 south. Little Cottonwood Creek flows through the canyon. The peak of the canyon ends just past Alta Ski Resort.

Alta Ski Resort: Alta began as a mining town in 1871. After a decline in mining production and a couple of natural disasters the resort opened to skiers in 1939. Alta doesn’t allow snowboarders, so there is no point in ever going there.

Snowbird Ski Resort: Snowbird is located just below Alta. In the 1800’s there was a productive silver mine there. It wasn’t until 1971 that Snowbird opened its doors to skiers. Unlike Alta which is a big dumb dumb face, Snowbird lets snowboarders in. Every September the resort hosts a popular Octoberfest event, with food and local brewery’s.

Areas in the Canyon to Fish: Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir, Bell Canyon Creek, Upper Bell Canyon Reservoir, Cecret Lake,

Nearby Canyon: Big Cottonwood Canyon is the next canyon to the north and American Fork Canyon is the next canyon to the south.
