Location: McGath Lake is located in Garfield County, Utah. From Boulder Utah on highway 12 take the Hell's Backbone Road and follow it to the McGath Trailhead sign. You can follow this road directly to the lake. We drove a truck all the way to the lake and we do not recommend that. The last mile of the road is full of huge rocks and a river that you pass through. Most people take a 4wheeler or they hike in the last mile.

Fish Species: McGath Lake is stocked yearly with Brook Trout.

Fishing Regulations:  Updated for the 2021 fishing season. Closed November 1st through Decmber 31st, and January 1st through 6am on the second Saturday of July.

Other Info: The banks of the lake are shallow and covered in weed beds for about 200 yards out. Fishing from shore wont produces much fish if any at all. Red Rock Adventure has a good write up on how bad the road is into the lake.
