Utah's outdoor news for the week of June 29th 2018. This week in Utah's outdoor news we continue to battle forest fires over much of the state. Please be careful with your fireworks this week, or your campfires in the outdoors. Several of the current ongoing fires were human caused.

In The News

Last weekend was theĀ  Stand Up Paddleboard festival took place at Jordanelle Reservoir.
Utah Lake algae blooms currently affecting the areas near Utah Lake State Park, Swede Lane, Sandy Beach, and Lincoln Beach.

Digging at Saltair including metal detecting is illegal.
32 cows poisoned in Tooele. $1,000 reward offered for information.

Strawberry Bay Marina started pouring concrete on their indoor boat storage.
Channel Catfish stocked this month at the following places. Bountiful Pond, Clinton Pond, Cove Pond, Highland Glen Park, Jensen Nature Park, Jordan River, Kaysville Pond, Kidney Pond, Leigh Hill Pond, Meadow Creek Pond, Midas Pond, Millrace Park Pond, Parowan Pond, Pioneer Park Pond, Riverton Pond, Salem Pond, Sandy Pond, Smith Family Park Pond, Steed Pond, Sunset Pond, and Yuba Reservoir.

We all lost a tremendous friend this month in the passing of Jim Carter. He was well known in the outdoor community most notably for his work on the Strawberry Valley and the Strawberry Anglers Association. He taught us all a valuable lesson about volunteering and standing up for what's right. You can read his obituary here.
