Utah’s Outdoor News 8-31-18

Welcome to Utah's Outdoor News for the week of August 31st 2018. This week wild fires took second place as drought moved into the most discussed outdoor topics. Several people will be heading to the outdoors this weekend for labor day weekend. Traffic on I-15 is supposed to be pretty bad this weekend. So please plan extra time into your trips and slow down on the roads.

Drought

As the drought takes a toll on farmers many reservoir's are being drained to use for irrigation. In order to save the fish from a pending death, the bag limit has been increased to 8 fish at three Utah reservoirs. Cleveland Reservoir, Miller Flats, and Piute Reservoir will be drained. The lack of water is impacting southern Utah the most, but the affects are seen in the north as well. There was a report this week on BFT that it's getting difficult to launch a boat at Echo Reservoir. The lack of rain isn't helping the algae blooms this week on the Jordan River or Blackridge Reservoir. At Big Sandwash Reservoir right now there is 20 feet of mud below the boat launch ramp. This post title on BFT sums up a lot of the state right now "Mammoth Reservoir how low will it go".
